James’ 25 years of experience covers a range of industries, and technical disciplines. He has delivered significant projects in Europe and Australia, in senior roles focussed on engineering, delivery and operations. James has worked in both the private and public sector, and been on both sides of the service provider and customer relationship.
His career started in regional network operations at Orange (a Hutchison Whampoa company) in the UK, before moving into a service delivery role on behalf of Nokia and Ericsson in both Spain and the UK.
In 2010 James moved to Australia with his family, and held key roles in the delivery of major projects within the Australian telecommunications market, again working for Nokia and Ericsson.
In 2012, James joined Vodafone Hutchison Australia and his full focus went onto operations, at first concentrating on the network side of technology, and then in later years, as General Manager, his remit was expanded to cover the IT operation too. Refining processes, working in partnership with the executive team and other senior business leaders, as well as key outsourced partnerships, James transformed the maturity of technology operations, while also returning significant cost savings.
As CTO at the NSW Telecommunications Authority, James was instrumental in the provision of mission critical communication to emergency service first responders, as well as advising on policy decisions at state and federal level. James’ expertise in his field was recognised internationally, as he was chosen to represent Australia at various international critical communications events, speaking on behalf of the state and in partnership with the federal government, James helped shape the direction of 3GPP standards development and government policy as it relates to public safety communications.
James is currently providing his expertise as a consultant across various industries where businesses are struggling to improve, or even maintain, operational stability at a time where markets are putting greater pressure on companies to grow and evolve.
