With over 24 years of international experience leading network engineering and IT teams, Payam has been instrumental in shaping national infrastructure that supports millions of customers daily. He brings extensive expertise in strategic management, product delivery, and operational leadership, with a strong focus on network connectivity, cybersecurity, and IT systems.
Payam has overseen critical infrastructure, including national fibre networks, transport/IP systems, data centre networks, and critical cybersecurity systems supporting both mobile and fixed products targeting consumer, enterprise, and wholesale customers. Payam also has extensive experience leading the development of long-term infrastructure strategies, identifying requirements, and managing key partnerships.
Payam’s leadership extends to managing large teams, having led over 200 professionals in areas such as network architecture, engineering, planning, and service provisioning. He has also championed significant transformations within organisations, focusing on continuous improvements and ensuring cost-effective solutions across the business.
His previous roles include leadership positions at Optus and Singtel, where he led the optimisation and transformation of mobile backhaul networks, introduced new technologies like Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV), and oversaw the compliance to national cybersecurity standards.
